Day 2 of Book 1 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale at Karaka saw strong trade with averages rising to $187,500 and aggregate turnover up despite a smaller catalogue.
The session was highlighted by a $1.1 million top lot, major support from Australian buyers and growing interest from mainland Chinese owners, while Cambridge Stud enjoyed standout results that underline a positive outlook for New Zealand bloodstock.
 

Karaka Day One: $38M Turnover and an $850k Snitzel Colt

Day one of the Karaka yearling sale wrapped up with 206 horses sold, more than $38 million traded and averages and medians up on last year. The session featured intense late bidding, highlighted by a Snitzel colt selling for $850,000.
Buyers from Australia, Hong Kong, China and New Zealand competed strongly across a balanced catalogue, with 19 lots already above $400,000. Vendors and agents left encouraged and confident heading into day two.
